The successful investment is a positive announcement that has been in the pipeline for some time. The investment has been made by a large equity fund who identified an opportunity to back Evolve and their huge pipeline of design & manufacturing work, and the growing stable of blue-chip customers which extends to Poolrite and the growing customer base surrounding the brand.
This investment will ensure Evolve has the equipment, resources and funding to grow well into the future. Additionally, it enables Poolrite to establish itself as a new standalone entity solely focused on the Pool Industry, customer service and delivering an iconic Australian made brand to the market. A focus that will significantly improve the Poolrite offering.
A portion of the investment will see a suite of brand-new high-speed injection moulding machines, new robots, and a new facility wide chiller system installed to increase the factory’s capacity and improve part quality. The new world class equipment will start to arrive as early as May and will be commissioned in Brisbane in July/Aug.
The next stage of investment will see a 650kw solar system and a recycling plant installed to enable Evolve to reduce their power consumption and also recycle plastic waste materials onsite at their Brisbane facility. Further establishing Evolve as a world class leader in the field of product design and manufacturing with a focus on the circular economy and support recycling and reuse of raw materials.
As a group Evolve and Poolrite appreciate all of our customers ongoing support and patience over the years. The hard work begins now and over the coming few months while the new structure is established, machines commissioned and we start to drastically improve our capacity, DIFOT and overall level of customer service.
]]>1. Importantly Poolrite is not required to remove our Revive Product from market, we have 90 days to sell through our current stocks, and given we can hardly keep up with demand for our Revive products due to huge market demand we will have no issue selling through stock. We have already tweaked our mix and all new product manufactured is to the new spec.
2. Evolve never admitted infringement and the Deed was made without any admissions of liability in respect of the acknowledgements and the Proceedings.
3. We reached an amicable settlement with a royalty free license to freely sell our new Revive Mineral formula.
4. Also, and very importantly, Zodiac agreed that it would not issue proceedings against any customers or users of the Revive Original Formula Products or the Revive New Formula. So our customers are free to stock and sell the Revive product, and I hope they proudly get on the front foot as one of only two products containing magnesium blends that can be freely sold into the marketplace without fear of any legal issues.
Most importantly Evolve’s Revive mineral is now the only like product on the market that doesn’t infringe Zodiacs patents and we understand that Zodiac are now on a mission to tackle any infringing product, which will seriously disrupt the market. This means Revive has a very strong and valuable position in the marketplace as Evolve is free to sell as much Revive as the market demands, free of any patent infringement whatsoever. We can’t say the same for anyone else.
If anyone requires any further info please contact Evolve directly and we are more than happy to help answer any questions you may have.

While swimming is most often associated with summer, it's a physical activity in which anyone can participate any time of the year if there is an indoor pool available or temperatures are mild. Of course, when it gets hot, everyone starts looking around for the friend with the pool. The next best bet: a local club or community pool, the cleaner and less crowded the better, of course. Swimming isn't just a fun way to cool off during the summer. It is one of the few sports or activities that doesn't cost lots of money or require any equipment. It holds no age or ability barrier.
According to data collected by the U.S. Census, swimming ranked fourth in popularity of sports activities in the U.S.—just under camping. Fish that swimsuit out of the clear box on the shelf in your closet, grab a friend and head for the nearest pool. But before you do, discover 25 compelling reasons to make swimming a part of your life.
01 of 25
Not that we recommend you do it because everyone else does it—if the popular kids were all jumping off a bridge, does that make it OK? Swimming is popular for a good reason, or actually many good reasons, as you will find out as you continue to read. According to the latest U.S. Census report:
So, how do you like it now?

Pool water's buoyancy counteracts the force of gravity, making swimming an ideal low-impact form of exercise that puts very little stress on those bones and joints. If it's a heated pool (even better!), muscles will become relaxed, which increases flexibility and enables you to engage in important stretching exercises. If you're one of those fitness types who engage in intense lactic-acid-building endurance workouts—like running, cycling or weights—swimming helps flush out toxins andimpurities, preventing muscle tightness and soreness the next day.

Swimming is one of the easiest and best ways to burn unwanted calories: an hour of swimming burns about 500 calories. Apparently, those myths about swimmers and calorie intake are true. Just look at Michael Phelps. Swimming increases your metabolism, continuing the "burn" for a while even when you've exited the pool.
04 of 25
Yeah, right. The water puts out the smoke. If that doesn't do it, the 'No Smoking' sign will. If you've ever tried to quit smoking or know someone in the process, they can be pretty irritable. Jump in a pool and swim—it works.

Swimming works your body's motor coordination. Over two thirds of the body musculature is engaged when you swim. The upper and lower body, trunk, head, arms and legs are forced to work together to make a balanced effort.
06 of 25
Mom always told you to stop slouching. It's still not too late. Swimming strengthens joints and improves posture by improving the position of the spinal column. This makes it an excellent exercise for people with all kinds of back problems and issues.
07 of 25
Seniors in their 90s do it. Toddlers (with a parent in tow) do it. Swimming is good for everyone, at any age. Once you step into the water and start moving around, your body becomes ageless. If only we could feel that good all of the time!
08 of 25
You hear about certain forms of exercise being a "total-body workout." Maybe—but swimming is the original total-body workout: it targets everything from sculpting your back to toning your arms. No heavy equipment or weights are necessary. Instead of buying lots of different pieces of exercise equipment to work specific muscles, jump in the pool and tone your whole body in a few laps.
09 of 25
This doesn't mean swim naked, although, if you want to go skinny dipping in your own private pool, that's up to you. For the average person, swimming does not require lots of special equipment and gear. All you really need is a swimsuit. The other extras, like a towel, swim cap, goggles, swimmers earplugs, kickboard, pool float (for relaxing), noodle, and all of that extra stuff is up to you and your budget.

Compared to running, there is more breath control with swimming, which creates an increased demand for oxygen, making those muscles work harder, without knowing it. Swimming also strengthens the heart, making it become larger. The heart's pumping action also becomes more refined, which leads to better blood circulation.

It's no great revelation that swimming refreshing: when temperatures climb sometimes the only relief can be found in that big body of water. Too bad there are so many other bodies taking up space in the water! Some people enjoy swimming at night under the stars. The crowds have cleared, there's no need to use UV sunblock, and it's sometimes just you, whoever you're with, the night sky, and the pool. Magical!
12 of 25
It's true with any exercise or sport—they build confidence and raise self-esteem. OK—so you may not get a team t-shirt or a trophy, but regular swimming also does these things, and increases your self-reliance. You feel more powerful—ready to face the world.
13 of 25
Swimming is one of the few sports you can do throughout your lifetime. Unlike something like soccer, baseball or skiing, you won't need to "retire" from swimming. It will always be there for you.
14 of 25
Does swimming make you taller? Just look at Michael Phelps. While it isn't going to add height where the genetics and potential aren't there, swimming has the ability to build longer, leaner muscles. It's those "swimmer's muscles" combined with resistance training and cardio that help boost your metabolism to keep those calories burning longer. Swimming can also put your body through a range of movements, helping your muscles stay nice and long and flexible.
15 of 25
Let's say you are recovering from an injury and are hoping to build or rebuild strength. Swimming will fulfill that need and desire. It's easy on the joints and gives sore knees a rest from constant pounding on the pavement— something you may not be able to do for a while.

For some, just the idea or act of wearing a swimsuit in public (even in a backyard pool) can be the motivating force to shed a few pounds. People who consistently swim strenuously enough to be out of breath when they finish and elevate their heart rate do burn calories and lose weight," says Jane Moore, M.D., a physician and active swimmer from Tacoma, Washington. "The key is to push yourself a bit."
"Putting on a swimsuit and appearing in public should also motivate one to shed a few pounds," says Kris Houchens, head coach of the YMCA Indianapolis SwimFit Masters. Whatever your reason, or whatever the excuse of a friend or partner, that swimming has not been incorporated into a consistent fitness routine, the list above should illuminate the ways in which the sport can add to your quality of life.

If you own a pool, then you know what a magnet it can be in the summer time. Everyone wants to hang out at the kid-with-the-pool's house. While it may mean extra water-watching time for Mom or Dad, there's no denying that it brings children and adults together. Pools are all about socialization—they are a culture unto themselves.

If you have that competitive spirit and are—or strive to be—athletic, then swimming is definitely an exhilarating individual and team sport. Just think about the Olympics, and what you or most people enjoyed watching the most. For me, at least, it as the swimming competitions, especially with those inside-the-pool cameras, catching every breathtaking part of the competition.
Starting from childhood, participating on a swim team can build up strength, confidence and the ability to get along with others—which will help later in life.
19 of 25
Simply put, knowing how to swim means a person is less likely to drown. Start swim lessons at a young age and continue them until the child is proficient in swimming.

It's a proven fact that physical activity improves mood in children and adults. For people with conditions like fibromyalgia, swimming can help decrease stress and anxiety, while relaxing, strengthening and toning muscles. Water-based exercise improves mental health. Swimming can improve mood in both men and women.
For people with fibromyalgia, it can decrease anxiety and exercise therapy in warm water can decrease depression and improve mood. Water-based exercise can improve the health of mothers and their unborn children and has a positive effect on the mothers’ mental health.
21 of 25
Water-based exercise can help people with chronic diseases. For those afflicted with arthritis, it improves the use of affected joints without worsening symptoms. Rheumatoid arthritis patients notice an improvement in health after participating in hydrotherapy than with other activities. Swimming and water-based exercise also helps affected joints and decreases pain from osteoarthritis.
Post-Hip and Knee Replacement
If you've had a hip or knee replacement, the doctor may have recommendedhydrotherapy. That means swimming. You can get in the pool right after sutures have been removed and the wound is healed, usually 6 to 8 weeks after surgery.
For Asthma Patients
Swimming has proven to be beneficial for asthma sufferers. Think about it—certain strokes will encourage lung function and breathing control. If you suffer from exercise-induced asthma, jumping in the pool may relieve symptoms, because it allows asthmatics to work out in moist air, reducing symptoms. Because swimming requires breath control, it also improves overall lung and breathing capacity.

Ever had an urge to get in your car and just drive away from it all, whatever "it all" is? Everyone needs a little rest and relaxation—that's usually what weekends are supposed to be about. Stress from work, school, family, job hunting all begins to build up. Letting it build up is not healthy for you or those around you.
While it may sound simple, being able to just jump in a pool and start swimming can provide an enormous relief of pressure.
The aerobic benefits of swimming help your circulatory system function better, leading to better blood circulation to your brain. If your brain gets enough blood and oxygen (through aerobic exercise), it starts a process called hippocampal neurogenesis, in which cells from the hippocampus that have been lost due to stress are replaced with new cells.
Aerobic exercises like swimming can trigger the release of endorphins in the brain, which are chemicals that bring about feelings of contentment and euphoria.
23 of 25
Did you know that swimming can boost your immune system? When cells in the body regularly get blood and oxygen, they function better and do a more effective job or removing toxins like carbon dioxide. This helps your body's overall well being. Swimming also has a positive effect on the lymphatic system. When the lymph system is in order, white blood cells are regularly distributed, resulting in increased immunity against diseases and infections.

Where there's a pool, the family congregates, for swimming, fun, and a barbecue. It creates a reason to get together—kind of a focal point, or something around which to build activities. Parents of children with developmental disabilities have found that outdoor activities in a casual setting, like swimming, help improve family bonds. It kind of takes the focus off the child, and gives everyone something fun to do; sort of a win/win situation.
25 of 25
While rules used to advise us to "swim with a friend" for safety's sake, that doesn't mean you have to arrange a date every time you want to go swimming. Keeping safety in mind at home, your child can swim solo at home provided you or a designated water watcher is stationed at the pool. The same would be true for a senior adult who goes swimming in his or her backyard pool—it's best to have someone around to keep an eye on you during your workout.
Otherwise, if you are going to the local pool, go alone, take a friend— the choice is yours. Enjoy!

]]>Take these steps to protect your pool, or clean up after heavy rains.
Take these steps to protect your pool, or clean up after heavy rains.
Lower the water level in your pool to keep proper skimming action, and to avoid contamination from planters and deck area flooding.
For most pools with a sand/glass media or DE filter, the simplest way to lower the water level is to place the multiport valve onto the waste position and roll out the backwash hose. If you have a slide (push-pull) valve, backwash the filter to lower the water level.
Some pools have a hose spigot plumbed after the pump, or on the filter valve, which you can connect a garden hose, to lower water level. Or, you can use a submersible pump, aka pool cover pump, to keep the pool from overflowing.
Finally, there is the siphon method. A pool vacuum hose works best. Prime the hose in the pool, to fill it full of water, and attach a vac head or use a heavy item to hold the hose on the first or second step, the pool ladder, or swim out.
Cap the other end of the hose with your palm and quickly pull the hose away from the pool and a few feet below the level of the pool water. Uncap the hose at ground level and let it flow! Keep an eye on it though!
From Run-Off: When a backyard pool gets 120 millimetres of rain in a few hours, flooding can result. If surrounding planters or lawns, or even concrete pool decks overflow into the pool, just a handful of soil or mulch can elevate phosphate levels and create problems with cloudy water and algae.
In severe cases, a pool can fill with a thick layer of silty mud, and all sorts of debris. Use leaf rakes to remove the big stuff, followed by a slow vacuum to waste. Follow-up with a good daily pool brush, and near continuous filtering. Clarifiers and flocculents can be used to speed up the process considerably, and may be needed for sand/glass media filters.
As the water clears, use a phosphate remover chemical to naturally consume phosphates in your pool. Just pour it into balanced pool water, run the filter for 24 hours, then backwash.
From the Rain: Rain is pure, distilled water, but as it falls through the air, it picks up dust, pollen, pollutants, oils, even algae spores. If you have tall trees overhanging the pool, rain will wash them clean, right into your pool, adding phosphates and other organic gunk. Add algaecide before a storm to help battle incoming invaders as they enter the pool.
Rain can also destroy your pool’s water balance. It dilutes the cyanuric acid, and can also soften the water, lowering calcium hardness, and it can affect pH and alkalinity as well. Acid Rain falling through smoggy summer air hits your pool at a very low pH, reducing pool pH and alkalinity. Be sure to test your water with a complete test kit.
Before a storm hits: Store all loose toys, furniture and cleaning equipment that could become airborne in high winds. Don’t cover the pool, which can be damaged severely in a heavy storm.
After a storm hits: Clean the pool, lower the water level, check the water balance and the chlorine level, adding sanitizer if needed. If your pool is a funky color, super-chlorinate with some pool shock, and run the filter overnight. It’s best to remove leaves and debris from the pool, and lower the pH to 7.2, before shocking the pool.
Keep the filter running, however if flood waters threaten to submerge the pool pump, shut off power to the pool on the main home panel. If you can safely remove the pump, store it indoors, if the pump motor becomes submerged, it will likely need to be replaced.
Regular rain falling on your pool equipment will not usually cause any harm, even if it lasts for days on end. If concerned however, you can build a lean-to of some sort over your filter pump. Flooding however is the real problem. Sand bagging your pool equipment could save you from pump replacement, if flood waters rise above the equipment pad.
If your pool has a tendency to flood in some areas of the pool deck, and if run-off from heavy rains ends up in the pool – it needs to be fixed. Pool decks should slope 6mm for every 300mm, and storm run-off needs to go somewhere; never in the pool.
Look at the way water moves around the pool, and rework the land to create natural swales, or install drains and drain pipes, or install French drains in gravel around the pool deck, sloped to a downhill, away from the pool location, and also away from the pool equipment.

Pool maintenance can be a drag, but there's no point having a great pool out the back if it's full of sludge. Cleaning and maintenance are crucial to keeping the water safe for you and your family, and to make sure you actually get to use it!
From collecting leaves and debris to keeping the chlorine levels stable, there's a huge range of tricks, tools and products to keep your pool in tip top shape.
All pools require cleaning to remove the leaves, dirt and other grotty things that they collect. The kind of cleaner you need will depend on:
The cheapest option is to do it yourself by 'hand vacuuming'. The 'vacuum' is attached to your skimmer box to create suction and then you manually push the vacuum around the surfaces of your pool with a pole. Typically, this will take between an hour and an hour and a half, and you'll need to do it once a week.
If you prefer to leave the gunk-scooping to someone else, there are plenty of pool-cleaning services around. They'll also check everything's operating correctly and do required maintenance. A regular visit may cost around $55 or more. One-off call-outs will be more expensive.
A Kreepy Krauly is a brand of suction pool cleaner, but these days the name 'creepy crawly' is often used to describe products in this segment of the market. They're the cheapest and one of the more popular automatic cleaners. A more expensive type is the pressure cleaner, and more expensive again are the robot cleaners.
Find out more about these in our pool cleaner buying guide.
Without regular sanitisation, all pools develop bacteria – which can pose serious health risks. Water top-ups, leaves, grass, dust, and even people all cause bacteria to grow; these factors, along with the size of your pool, will determine the level of sanitisation you need.
Most pool owners use chlorine. There are other options to keep pool water clean and in balance – such as using ozone gas, UV sterilisation, bromine or ionization – but these methods make up a very small part of the Australian market. Health departments around Australia generally recommend all domestic pool owners have a chlorine residual in their pool.
There are three main ways domestic users can keep their pool chlorinated:
As well as sanitisation, you also need to chemically balance your pool water. The chemical balance of your pool is made up of:
You should monitor your chlorine and pH levels at least once a week, or every day if your pool is in high use. Total alkalinity and calcium hardness levels can be monitored less frequently.
Maintaining the pH level of your pool is crucial to ensuring it's safe to use. Incorrect pH levels can cause itchy skin and red eyes, and can also reduce the effectiveness of chlorine.
pH ranges from 0 to 14, with 7.0 being neutral, anything above 7.0 alkaline, and anything below 7.0 acidic. The Australian Standard for pool water is 7.0 to 7.8, with 7.4 being ideal.
Rain, water top-ups, people swimming and chlorine will all also alter your pool's pH. You can raise pH levels by adding soda ash (which is alkaline) or lower them by adding pool acid.
Low levels of total alkalinity will cause erosion to pool surfaces and corrosion of equipment. It can also cause pH levels to become very unstable.
The Australian Standard recommends that your TA level should be 60 to 200 parts per million. You can raise the TA level by adding 'buffer' – sodium bicarbonate – or lower it by adding pool acid. Bear in mind, adding acid will also affect your pH levels.
Low levels of dissolved calcium in pool water can corrode pool equipment, and high levels can create scale. Calcium hardness levels can't be monitored using most domestic pool water-testing kits. Instead you need to take a sample of your pool water to your local pool shop for testing. In areas where calcium levels aren't high, you shouldn't need to do this test more than once a year – unless you use calcium hypochlorite to sanitise your pool.
There's a wide range of kits on the market you can use to test your pool water. A basic 'four-in-one' test is a good starting point. This kit tests chlorine levels, total alkalinity and pH, as well as the level of acid needed to rebalance the pH. Alternatively, you can now buy electronic testers, which will analyse a disposable strip that you dip in your pool. These strip readers tend to cost more.
The most labour-intensive way of keeping your pool sanitised is to manually add chlorine. This involves testing your pool's water to figure out how much chlorine to use, and will need to be done every second day for the average backyard pool. This might be the best option if you're renting a property with a pool and aren't looking for a long-term solution.
Saltwater pools are popular in Australian backyards – but they don't do away with the need for chlorine. Saltwater pools use salt chlorinators to convert common salt crystals into chlorine gas which is soluble in water.
Liquid chemical feeders are fitted to your pool's filtration system and automatically add liquid chlorine, and in some cases acid, to the water.
In cooler climates, heating your pool can give you the opportunity to swim all year round. The best heating choice for you will depend on where you live, your budget, and how you use your pool. An ideal water temperature is said to be around 25°C.
No matter how you heat your pool, a solar/thermal blanket is an excellent way to reduce heat loss overnight. These blankets not only keep the heat in, they also reduce evaporation. For this reason, some state governments offer rebates if you buy one — so find out what's on offer where you live.
If you live in an area with a lot of sun and you have a large roof area, solar heating is an efficient option. Solar heating works by pumping pool water into rubber matting that is installed on your roof. The matting is hot from the sun, and transfers the heat to the water before it returns to the pool.
If you have access to natural gas, you can use gas heating to maintain a constant temperature – or, alternatively, just turn it on occasionally when you feel like a swim.
If want your pool to stay at a steady temperature for 12 months a year, a heat pump can be a good option. Heat pumps use the same technology as air conditioning and refrigeration. In simple terms, they draw water in from your pool and pump it through a heat exchanger, which is very energy efficient.

]]>Traditionally sand has been used by many pool owners for their filtration systems and previous to that Diatomaceous Earth.
Sand filtration strains the water to filter out impurities as the particles cling to the cracks of sand. Combined with the gaps between each grain this allows the particles to be trapped. Unfortunately over time these impurities eventually clog up the sand and need to be cleared every 6-8 weeks through the process of backwashing.
However now there are more economical and environmentally safe options available. Glass media ensures that your system is filtering to its full capacity through electrostatic entrapment. Essentially each glass particle holds a charge that attracts the contaminants to it. It also reduces the need to backwash as much due to its unique filtration capabilities.
Poolrite’s glass media product Diamond Kleen™ also comes with the added benefit of anti-bio film properties that discourage bacteria and algae from breeding in your swimming pool. Diamond Kleen™ is made from100% recycled glass that acts as a healthier alternative to silica sand. Diamond Kleen™ attracts no residue, so bacteria is unable to attach to the particles and breed within your filter tank; this is something sand cannot do.
Diamond Kleen™ can save up to 25% of water through reduced backwashing. Larger spaces between particles enable a more efficient backwash. Reduced backwashing means fewer chemicals are used, saving you money and reducing the amount of chemicals released into our eco-system. Diamond Kleen™ also lasts three times longer than sand.
When considering your filtration media also take into account that the filter needs to be properly sized for the pool. The filter always needs to meet or exceed the desired flow rate and turnover capacity in litres.

Responsive web design term is related to the concept of developing a website design in a manner that helps the lay out to get changed according to the user’s computer screen resolution. More precisely, the concept allows for an advanced 4 column layout 1292 pixels wide, on a 1025 pixel width screen, that auto-simplifies into 2 columns. Also, it suitably fixes on the smartphone and computer tablet screen. This particular designing technique we call “responsive design”.
