Poolrite Diamond Kleen™ is a premium glass filtration media designed to provide superior water clarity, efficient water flow and effective backwashing.
Made from 100% recycled fused silicon dioxide, Diamond Kleen is an advanced alternative to traditional sand and zeolite media. Its unique glass structure provides fine filtration between 1–3 microns, helping capture fine suspended particles throughout the media bed.
Better Filtration & Water Flow
Unlike conventional media that can build up contaminants near the surface of the filter bed, Diamond Kleen is designed to filter finer particles throughout the media bed. This helps reduce clogging and back pressure while maintaining efficient water flow.
Its efficient flow characteristics also support quicker backwashing, with Poolrite's supplied technical material reporting water savings of up to 25% through quicker or less frequent backwashing compared with regular sand under laboratory test conditions.
Independently Studied Performance
Diamond Kleen™ has been evaluated in an independent comparative performance study of crushed recycled glass as granular filtration media in swimming pool water treatment.
The study, prepared by Jennifer-Leigh Campbell, compared Diamond Kleen with traditional sand and zeolite media. According to the report cited in the Poolrite documentation, Diamond Kleen demonstrated better turbidity reduction and particle removal and was considered more efficient, both theoretically and experimentally, under the study conditions.

The smooth surface of Diamond Kleen helps discourage bacteria growth within the filter, while the media undergoes an industrial autoclaving sterilisation process before use.
